MY CARE PHILOSOPHY

Every person is different. Rehabilitation should be too.

A diagnosis is useful, but it never tells the whole story. Two people can have the same injury on paper and still move, load and recover very differently (with completely different constraints and goals).

My first step is to understand what actually matters to you. What can you no longer do? What do you want back? And what is getting in the way right now? From there, we build a rehabilitation plan that fits your situation (with clear explanations and goals we define together).

Medical recommendations and current evidence are the starting point. The details come afterwards. Sometimes we can progress quickly. Sometimes the body needs more time. Load, pace and progression depend on how you respond, what you can currently tolerate and what you are trying to get back to.

ROETHINGER Gilles

I’m a cyclist and went to see Millie for a knee issue. She took the time to listen and worked with me manually. The problem was solved in just two sessions! Thank you so much!

B M

Highly recommended! I’m a pianist and Millie helped me relieve pain and discomfort before several concerts. The exercises she suggested are very effective, and she is such a caring therapist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions about physiotherapy in Basel, medical prescriptions, or how to prepare for your sessions? Here you’ll find detailed answers to help you get the most out of your rehabilitation and performance.

Do I need a medical prescription to see a physiotherapist?

Physiotherapy in Basel is generally prescribed by your general practitioner or a specialist. It is recommended for musculoskeletal issues such as back pain, ankle sprains, or sports injuries. Physiotherapy may also be indicated for other conditions, such as neurological disorders, dizziness, or during pregnancy.

How should I prepare for a physiotherapy session?

To optimize your rehabilitation and recovery, here are a few tips:

  • Wear comfortable sports clothing.
  • For a leg issue, bring shorts; for upper-body treatment, a T-shirt or tank top works well.
  • Women are advised to wear a sports bra.
  • If you are a runner and consulting for a running-related issue, bring your running shoes.
  • Arrive 5 minutes early to change in the available locker rooms.

Can I continue cycling or running during my rehabilitation?

Yes and no! The answer is individual and depends on the injury. In some cases, it may be appropriate to continue your favorite sport under certain conditions (especially if it is the cause of your problems). In other cases, you must stop completely. The best course of action is to consult a specialist for a tailored and individualized recommendation.

How long is a medical prescription for physiotherapy valid?

Beyond the initial validity, approval from your health insurance or accident insurance is required for long-term prescriptions. Sessions must begin within five weeks of the prescription date. The nine prescribed sessions must be completed within three months. For the same condition, 3 to 4 prescriptions can be issued.

Do I need to be an athlete to benefit from sports physiotherapy?

No. Sports physiotherapy at Physio-Sport Brecheisen in Basel is for anyone who wants to return to safe and confident movement – from everyday activities and recreational sports to competitive sport.

Treatment is individually adapted to your symptoms, current level and personal goals.

Is physiotherapy covered by Swiss accident insurance?

First, you must report your accident to your employer, who will notify your accident insurance. Then, as with health insurance, you need a prescription from a physician registered with the Swiss health insurance system. You will not incur any costs – everything is fully covered by accident insurance.
