Millie Brecheisen, sports physiotherapist in Basel

Who I am

Millie Brecheisen Physiotherapist in Basel

I often say that a good physiotherapist mainly needs a sharp mind and two good hands.

I am a physiotherapist specialising in sports physiotherapy, manual therapy and rehabilitation after concussion, including dizziness and balance disorders. Many of the people I work with are active, but not everyone is an athlete. For one person the goal is competition; for another it is getting back to exercise, work or a daily life that is no longer organised around pain.

My work always starts with the same idea: understand what is actually limiting the person, then build rehabilitation around what they need to get back to. Evidence is the foundation, but it only becomes useful when it can be translated into something that fits your life, your sport and your real constraints.

What guides my practice

Understand before treating

Your history, goals and demands shape the plan. I do not apply the same protocol to everyone.

Evidence as a foundation

Current knowledge from physiotherapy, sports rehabilitation and neuroscience is translated into practical steps you can actually use.

Restore confidence and independence

The goal is not only to reduce symptoms, but to return to what matters: daily life, work, training or competition.

I also know the other side of the treatment table

Sport is part of my everyday life. After years of competing in alpine skiing and mountain biking, I now race BMX. I therefore know injury, doubt, the impatience of returning and the phases where progress feels slow – as well as the moment when confidence and performance start to come back.

That experience as an athlete influences the way I support patients. Rehabilitation should be demanding when appropriate, progressive when needed, and above all coherent with the activity you want to return to.

I also support athletes in training and competition, particularly in mountain biking. Moving between clinic, training and competition keeps my approach to Return to Sport and performance very practical.

Physiotherapy built around your goal

In my physiotherapy practice in Basel, I aim to offer the kind of care I would have wanted as an athlete: specialised when necessary, clearly explained and built around the person.

Whether you are returning after injury, dealing with concussion, trying to make daily life easier again or working back toward training and competition, the starting point is the same: understand where you are now and what needs to happen next.
